校园里的拉贝故居 ——纪念约翰·拉贝诞辰140周年

前言

位于南京大学校园内的拉贝纪念馆，是1934至1938年间德国西门子公司约翰·拉贝(1882-1950)先生的住宅。在侵华日军占领南京期间，安全区保护了25万中国人的生命。拉贝在其故居即当时的西门子难民收容所不仅保护了600多人，而且从1937年9月19日到1938年2月26日这段时间里，每天以战时日记的形式，记录下他亲眼目睹的日军所犯下的种种暴行，这就是后来闻名于世的《拉贝日记》。为了永久纪念拉贝这位和平的勇士，南京大学协同拉贝发展基金各捐赠方将拉贝故居建成拉贝与国际安全区纪念馆暨拉贝国际和平与冲突化解研究交流中心，并于2006年10月31日正式对外开放。为更好地发挥纪念馆在和平爱国教育、传播和平思想、传承和平文化方面的重要作用，特举办“校园里的拉贝故居”展览，一幅幅生动的画面链接了拉贝故居的过去与现在。回眸历史，展望未来，让光影流转中的那些人、那些事，激励我们续写鸿篇。

Preface

John Rabe and International Safety Zone Memorial Hall Nanjing University (herein after referred to as “John Rabe Memorial Hall”) located on the campus of Nanjing University was where Mr. John Rabe (1882-1950), representative of the German Siemens China Co. in Nanjing, resided from 1932 to 1938. Since Nanjing fell into the hands of the Japanese troops, this house became one of the 25 refugee camps in the Nanjing Safety Zone. Of the 250,000 refugees who flooded into the Zone to seek shelter, over 600 had been protected by this single house from Japanese persecution. Witnessing the atrocities around him, John Rabe recorded them in his daily writings which later became known as the “Diaries of John Rabe” (the Chinese version is from September 19, 1937 to February 26, 1938). In order to permanently commemorate John Rabe as a peace warrior, Nanjing University and the other donors of John Rabe Development Fund have jointly decided to renovate John Rabe’s former residence and open to public as John Rabe and International Safety Zone Memorial Hall and John Rabe International Research and Exchange Center for Peace and Reconciliation on October 31st, 2006. In order to promoting its important role in terms of peace education, peace thoughts and peace culture, we specially held the exhibition” John Rabe’s Former Residence in Nanjing University Campus- Commemoration on the 140th Birthday of John Rabe” with vivid pictures linking the past and present of Rabe's former residence. At present, recalling those people and things in the past will inspire us to look forward to the future!

1882年11年23日，约翰·拉贝（简称“拉贝”）出生于德国汉堡。约翰·拉贝早年丧父，因此初中毕业就离开了学校，在汉堡当徒工。1903年，拉贝在老板的推荐下去非洲东南部的葡萄牙殖民地莫桑比克一家英国公司工作，1906年身染疟疾离开非洲回国。

1908年约翰·拉贝来到中国北京，1911年冬，拉贝进入著名的德国西门子驻北京代表处工作，出任会计兼文书。拉贝的勤奋和才能很受公司负责人的赏识，很快就升任西门子驻北京代表处的负责人。1911年，他在中国建立了第一个电讯台，后来又在上海另建一个新电台。一直到拉贝1938年回国，西门子一直享有中国海军使用西门子电讯台装备的垄断权。

Thanks to his diligence and competence, Rabe was highly appreciated by his supervisor, and was soon promoted to be Director of the Beijing office. In 1911, he established the first telegraph station of China in Beijing, and later built another one in Shanghai. Siemens had all along enjoyed the monopoly over the telecommunication equipment used by China’s Navy before Rabe returned to Germany in 1938.

1930年11月，拉贝从德国回来，被西门子上海总部任命为南京代表处负责人，1931年11月2日到达中国国民政府首都—南京，住在下关临时租住的二层楼的住所内，经销通讯器材、防空报警系统、电话系统、交通材料等。

In November 1930, returning to China from Germany, Rabe was appointed by the headquarters of Siemens in Shanghai as Director of Siemens office in Nanjing, the capital of China under the National Government (KMT). After his arrival in  on November 2 1931, Rabe lived temporarily at a rented 2-storey building in Xiaguan District. He was in charge of the sales of communication equipment, air raid alarm system, telephone system, and materials for transportation.

1932年夏天，拉贝同金陵大学农学院院长谢家声签订了一份协议。根据这份协议，同时按照拉贝的要求，学校建一座集办公和居住于一体的房屋出租给拉贝。房屋位于南京广州路小粉桥1号，是一幢西式花园别墅。

In the summer of 1932, Rabe signed an agreement with Xie Jiasheng, Dean of the Agronomy School of the University of Nanking. The agreement specified that the university would build and rent Rabe a house, according to his requirements that it could be used both as his home and office. The house was in western style, attached with a garden, and was situated at No. 1, Xiaofenqiao, Guangzhou Rd.

Here was his home as well as his office, with the signboard of Siemens China Co. on the gate. Rabe was very much contented with the life here and he loved this city very much.

Rabe’s daughter often brought her lovely daughter, Ursula, to visit grandparents in Nanjing. Little Ursula always delighted John Rabe, and the house would be filled with laughter.

1934年，拉贝为了解决西门子南京分公司的德国职员孩子上学问题，创办了一所德语学校。校舍就设在拉贝小桃园花园的一排平房内。学校共有20多个德国孩子，拉贝是学校董事长，教师都采用聘任制，经费由德国政府拨款。

In 1934, John Rabe established a German school in  for the children of the German employees of the  office of Siemens China Co. The school was located in the garden of his house inside a row of one-storey houses at Xiao Taoyuan with about 20 German children. John Rabe served as the chairman of the school board of trustees. The school adopted appointive employment system to recruit teachers, and the fund was provided by the German government.

1937年7月7日，震惊中外的“七七”卢沟桥事变发生了。淞沪抗战打响；始，日军屡屡派飞机轰炸南京；1，东方的巴黎——上海城在凄风苦雨中沦陷了。首都告急！一场恶战将在古城南京展开。

The July 7 Incident in 1937, a battle between the Chinese and Japanese invading troops at Lugouqiao, broke out and shocked the whole world. The Battle of Shanghai began on August 13. From August 15 on, the Japanese airplanes went on bombing the city of  incessantly. On November 12, , the  in the East, was captured by the Japanese after fierce combat. The capital was in danger! A fierce battle in the ancient city of  was inevitable.

中国是拉贝的第二故乡，正如拉贝所说：“我一生中最美好的青年时代都在这个国家愉快度过，我的儿孙都出生在这里，我的事业在这里得到了成功，我始终得到了中国人的厚待。” 因此,即使德国驻华大使馆曾多次通知拉贝尽快离开南京，在经历了一番精神和心灵的搏斗之后，拉贝终于下定决心，不管发生什么情况，都留在南京。

China was Rabe’s second hometown. As he himself said, “It is in this country where I spent my best time of youth, where my children and grandchildren were born, and where my career was accomplished. I have been enjoying the hospitality of the people of China all along.” Even though the German embassy had advised Rabe to leave Nanjing for many times, he made the decision to stay behind regardless of the changing circumstances after a mental and spiritual struggle over the matter.

1937年下午5时，为了尽量减少战争给平民造成的伤害，按照在上海南市设立难民区收容难民的先例，国际委员会平仓巷3号召开会议，讨论建立南京安全区。

At 5 p.m. on November 22, 1937, to reduce the harm of war to the Chinese civilians, following a precedent of a refugee zone set up in Nanshi District of Shanghai, the International Committee held a meeting for establishing Nanjing Safety Zone at 3 Pingcang Lane.

委员会公推拉贝为主席，金陵大学教授史迈斯为秘书。11月28日，委员会正式任命费奇先生为总干事，杭立武博士为中方共事总干事。

The committee elected John Rabe as Chairman, Professor Smythe from the University of Nanking as Secretary. On November 28, Mr. Fitch is officially named the director and Dr. Han Liwu the Chinese co-director.

12月25日，拉贝给德国元首希特勒写信，企图求得他对南京安全区支持。

On November 25, as Chairman of the International Committee, Rabe wrote a letter to Adolf Hitler, attempting to win him over to support the Nanjing Safety Zone.

拉贝等人又设法将南京安全区的成立转告上海的日本军方，并设法把安全区地图转交日军，请日方进攻南京后不要骚扰安全区。后来，在进入南京城的日本兵身上就发现有画着南京安全区的地图。

Rabe and other committee members afterwards managed to inform the Japanese military authorities in Shanghai of the Nanjing Safety Zone with a map of its location, and requested them not to assault the Zone. The map was later found to be carried by the Japanese soldiers who entered .

在侵华日军南京大屠杀期间，拉贝和安全区国际委员会成员建立了25个难民收容所，为难民提供吃住，他们尽其全力保护难民的安全。先后有25万南京市民和放下武器的中国官兵在难民区避难，使他们免遭日军杀害。

During the Nanjing Massacre, Rabe and the International Committee for Safety Zone established 25 refugee homes, providing them with food and lodging and went all out to protect them from Japanese killings. More than 250,000 citizens and disarmed soldiers of  sought refuge in the Safety Zone and were saved from the Japanese slaughter.

   安全区亦称“难民区”，以美国大使馆所在地和金陵大学等教会学校为中心，占地3.86平方公里，界内分设交通部大厦、华侨招待所、金陵女子文理学院、最高法院、金陵大学等25所难民收容所。南京沦陷前后，南京市民及外地逃来的难民，蜂拥而入难民区，少数放下武器的中国士兵也进入安全区避难。各个收容所都人满为患。

The Nanjing Safety Zone, also called Refugee Zone, covered an area of 3.86 square kilo-meters. It was centered around the American Embassy and missionary schools such as the University of Nanking. Within the Safety Zone, there were 25 refugee camps located in the office buildings of the Ministry of Communications, Huaqiao Hostel, Nanking Women’s College of Arts and Sciences, the Supreme Court, the University of Nanking, etc. Before and after the fall of Nanjing, big numbers of Nanjing civilians and refugees from outside flooded into the Refugee Zone. A few disarmed Chinese soldiers also took refuge in the Safety Zone. As a result, all the refugee camps were overcrowded to the point of dysfunction.

1937年8月，日本飞机开始对南京狂轰烂炸，拉贝从避暑的北戴河赶回南京，亲自设计了位于他庭院内的救济难民的防空洞，随后带领大家对8月份初建的防空洞进行改造加固。

In August, 1937, the Japanese airplanes began to bomb Nanjing. Hearing the news, John Rabe hurried home from his summer vacation at Bei Daihe, a seaside resort place in  province. He himself designed an air-raid shelter in his yard, and then led people to reinforce and improve it after it was completed in the same month.

He also drew a flag of National Sozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei (NSDAP) on a piece of canvas ( x ) bearing a big swasktika, so as to warn the Japanese bombers: No invasion of this area where the Germans lived.

妇孺优先是拉贝规定的使用防空洞的原则，他还写了一首“和人人都相干”的诗告诫大家。

John Rabe stipulated a rule that children and women had the priority to use the air-raid shelter. He also wrote a poem It Concerns Everybody to give advice to people.

1937年12月13日，南京城沦陷了。大批中国人涌向安全区，安全区内设了25个难民收容所。拉贝的住宅小粉桥1号是其中之一，被称为“西门子难民收容所”，难民最多时这里收留了600多人。包括南京卫戍司令部的龙应钦、周清锋等在内的高级军官，都躲藏在拉贝家二楼，还有一名飞行员王光汉躺在拉贝家中养伤。在拉贝离开南京时，王光汉扮作拉贝的佣人，成功地离开了南京。

At the fall of Nanjing on December 13,1937, large numbers of Chinese people  fled in droves into the 25 refuges in the Safety Zone. John Rabe’s house at No.1 Xiao Fenqiao was one of them. It was called “the Refuge at Siemens,” which at its peak had harbored over 600 refugees. Several senior officers of Nanjing Garrison Command such as Long Yingqing and Zhou Qingfeng also hid on the second floor of the John Rabes’ house. Wang Guanghan, a wounded pilot, also entered the refuge at John Rabe’s house and stayed there for his recovery. He later disguised as Mr. Rabe’s servant and successfully escaped from .

日军在600多个难民中一一检查是否有当过兵的，在拉贝院中避难的宗有琴卖鱼苗的哥哥，因为头上常年戴草帽或毡帽，额头上有一道明显的帽箍，肩上也有挑担的老茧，日本人把她哥哥当作嫌疑人拉出来盘问，但在拉贝的竭力护卫下，终于平安无事。

The Japanese army examined each of the over 600 refugees at the John Rabe’s House to identify Chinese soldiers. Refugee Zong Youqin’s brother was a fisherman who had callus on the shoulder and an obvious mark on the forehead since he had been wearing straw or felt hats for years. The Japanese therefore singled him out as a suspect of Chinese soldier to interrogate him. It was John Rabe who did his best to defend Zong and eventually saved him from the Japanese.

拉贝的邻居丁永庆老人也在拉贝院内避难，他回忆说；“拉贝先生对我们难民关怀备至，提供粮食，祛寒的蚕豆等食物使我们得以生存。”

Ding Yongqing, John Rabe’s neighbor who also took refuge at his house yard, recalled John Rabe’s meticulous care, “Mr. Rabe was very kind to us. He provided us with food including broad beans – the special food that defended us from cold winter. Thus we were able to survive.”

由于拉贝的得力呵护，他院子里的600多名难民，没有一个伤亡。1938年的新年，西门子难民收容所的难民们在院子里排队向拉贝三鞠躬，献给他一块大红绸布，上面写着“您是几十万人的活菩萨。”

Owing to John Rabe’s proper care, there was no death or injury among the 600 or so refugees staying at his yard. On the New Year’s Day of 1938, these people stood in line to bow to John Rabe and presented him a large piece of red silk which read, “You are the living Buddha for more than several hundred thousand Chinese people”.

半个多世纪以来，当年的小粉桥1号，曾被几十万难民顶礼膜拜的“活菩萨”拉贝的故居，默默地伫立于中山路与广州路路口，无人知晓它曾经有过的惊心动魄。

For over half a century, the former residence of John Rabe, “the living Buddha” worshipped by hundreds of thousands of refugees, has been standing in oblivion at the intersection of Zhongshan Road and Guangzhou Road. Nobody notices what kind of turmoil it has once experienced.

1988年，南京市档案馆工作人员黄慧英女士（南京大学历史系毕业生），发现了当年南京市参议会的一则简讯，称时任南京安全区国际委员会主席的拉贝生活陷入困境，拟成立拉贝募捐委员会对他进行资助。这段文字引起了黄慧英女士的极大的兴趣。

In 1988, Ms. Huang Huiying working in the Nanjing Archives, found a brief piece of news released by the Nanjing City Assembly. The news reported that John Rabe who had been Chairman of the Safety Zone and had made great contributions to the citizens of Nanjing during the Massacre, was leading a hard life. And the City Assembly proposed a Rabe Fund-raising Committee be established to aid John Rabe. Being a history major graduated from Nanjing University, Ms. Huang took great interest in this piece of information.

1988年12月，她在《南京史志》上发表了题为《南京沦陷期间一位德国友人拉比》的文章。1995年抗战胜利50周年之际，她又根据新发现的材料在《上海档案》第三期上撰写了《南京大屠杀中的庇护神》一文，并在《扬子晚报》上发表了《一个可敬的德国人与南京的生死缘》等系列文章，较为详尽的介绍了拉贝的生平事迹。介绍拉贝的文章发表后，当时似乎并未引起国内外人士对拉贝的应有关注。

In December, 1988, her article “Rabe, A German Friend in the Fall of Nanjing” was published in Local History of Nanjing. At the 50th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, she wrote a series of much detailed articles based on her new findings, which included “The Guardian Angel in the Nanjing Massacre” published in Shanghai Archives, and “An Admirable German and His Indissoluble Bond with Nanjing” appearing in a local newspaper of Nanjing. These introductory papers, however, seemed to fail to draw due concern about John Rabe either in China or in the world.

1995年8月，美籍华裔女作家张纯如，准备写一本有关南京大屠杀的书，在搜集史料时，发现史料中常提到德国商人拉贝，随后通过有关途径找到了曾任中学教师的拉贝亲属莱茵哈特夫妇，才了解到有关拉贝日记的情况。

In August 1995, Iris Chang, an American-Chinese writer who intended to write a book on the Nanjing Massacre, noticed in her research into historical documents the frequent appearance of a German businessman named Rabe. She finally reached Rabe’s relatives, the Reinhardt couple, two former middle school teachers, and it was from them that Ms. Chang learned about John Rabe’s diaries.

“纽约纪念南京大屠杀受难同胞联合会” 主席邵子平先生得知这一情况后，通过张纯如与莱茵哈特夫人取得了联系，获得了拉贝先生给希特勒的报告，其中提到自己有日记，记载了当时的情况。

Having heard of this, Mr. Tzu Ping Shao, the chairman of the United Association in Memory of Victims in the Nanjing Massacre in New York contacted Mrs. Reinhardt through Iris Chang and got hold of John Rabe’s report submitted to Hitler, which mentioned that he had written diaries that recorded the situation at that time.

下午，美国纽约曼哈顿岛洲际大饭店云集了世界各国的记者和学术界人士。2时整，在59年前南京城沦陷的同一时刻，记者招待会开始，拉贝的外孙女莱茵哈特夫人向各国记者展示了她外祖父当时所记的战时日记。

On the afternoon of December 12, 1996, journalists and scholars from all over the world gathered at Continental Hotel in Manhattan, New York. The press conference started at 2 o’clock, the precise moment when Nanjing was seized 59 years ago. Mrs. Reinhardt showed to the public the diaries written by her grandfather John Rabe during World War II.

《拉贝日记》公之于世后，全国掀起了一股拉贝热，当年拉贝在南京的故居引起了媒体关注。1997年3月，《拉贝传》作者黄慧英女士和中央电视台《焦点访谈》栏目组记者找到一位名叫王世清的老人，老人把他们领到小粉桥1号。老人回忆说他当年曾在这里避过难，他清楚地记得拉贝就住在这座宅院内，院子四周的围墙还是当年模样。院子大门口有西门子公司牌子，当时贴有布告，用于禁止日本兵骚扰。

Media became interested in exploring this place since a surge of curiosity and enthusiasm for Mr. Rabe swept across  after the publication of The Diaries of John Rabe. In March 1997, Ms. Huang Huiying, author of The Biography of John Rabe, together with some journalists from the Focus Program of CCTV, found an old man named Wang Shiqing who had been a refugee at Mr. Rabe’s house. Wang Shiqing took them to No.1 Xiao Fenqiao, for he remembered clearly that the John Rabes’ lived in this house then. The enclosed walls looked like what they used to be 60 years ago, when the signboard of Siemens and a warning to fend off Japanese incursions were put on the gate.

81岁的丁永庆老人，当年居住在广州路10号之1，与拉贝住宅近在咫尺。他对拉贝充满感激之情地说：“艾拉培是个大个子，待人很好。他在院子内搭有芦席棚（南京沦陷后），让周围的居民居住，供吃供穿。我在这里住了近一年。” 这样拉贝故居最后被确认为现在的小粉桥1号。

Ding was full of gratitude to Mr. Rabe when he referred to John Rabe’s Chinese name, “Ai Lapei was a tall man; he was very nice to people. He built up weed shelters in his yard for us neighbors after the fall of , and he also offered food and clothes to us. I lived here for almost a year.” That’s how No.1 Xiao Fenqiao was identified as the former residence of John Rabe.

1950年拉贝去世，随着时间的流逝，拉贝的名字很少被提及，南京小桃园10号（今小粉桥1号）更是淹没在历史的长河里，半个多世纪以来，无人知晓它曾经有过的惊心动魄。其实，这座默默承载着人类厚重历史的建筑从来就没有真正地离开过人们的生活。1938年拉贝离开南京后，其租住的房子自然归还金陵大学农学院院长谢家声。1947年4月谢家声赴美，其妻汤硕彦书面委托教友任文瑛代管，最先出租给美国基督教宣教会；1949年，又出租给华昌木行；1952年4月，任文瑛交南京市房地产管理局代管，曾由市建筑公司使用，后转交南京大学代管。1952年，院系大调整后，此房产闲置多年，直到1958年重新修缮后，作为南京大学的教职工住宅，一直得到很好地保护。包括副校长孙叔平、地质系主任张祖还等家人都曾在这里居住过。

John Rabe died in 1950. With the passage of time, his name was rarely mentioned. No. 10 of Xiaotaoyuan, Nanjing (now No. 1 of Xiaofanqiao) was submerged in the long river of history. For more than half a century, no one knew how thrilling it had been. In fact, this building that silently bears the heavy history of mankind has never really left people's lives. After John Rabe left Nanjing in 1938, his rented house was naturally returned to Xie Jiasheng, Dean of the Agronomy School of the University of Nanking. In April 1947, Xie Jiasheng went to the United States, and his wife Tang Shuoyan entrusted Ren Wenying to manage the house, and was first leased to the American Christian Mission Society; in 1949, it was leased to Huachang Wood Bank. In April 1952, it was managed by Nanjing Real Estate Administration, and it was once used by the municipal construction company, later it was transferred to Nanjing University for escrow. In 1952, after the major adjustment of the departments, the house has been vacant for many years, and until it was renovated in 1958, it was well protected as the residence of the faculty and staff of Nanjing University. Family members including Vice President Sun Shuping and Dean of Geology Department Zhang Zu also lived here.

2003年9月，时任德国总统的约翰内斯·劳先生访问南大，当他得知拉贝的事迹后，深表关注。回国后，他亲自推动和促成拉贝故居修缮和改建计划的启动。江苏省和南京市有关部门对修缮拉贝故居也十分重视。2005年8月南京市文物局还将其纳入南京市第三批市级文物保护单位申报名单，将拉贝故居永久保留。

In September 2003, the then President of Germany Johannes Rau visited Nanjing University and paid close attention to John Rabe after hearing his story. As soon as he went back, President Rau began to see to the renovation and reconstruction project of the former residence of John Rabe. The related governmental organizations of both Jiangsu Province and Nanjing City also attached great importance to this matter. In August 2005, Nanjing Municipal Cultural Relics Bureau included Mr. Rabe’s former residence into the third group of historical and cultural sites under permanent protection.

John Rabe Memorial Hall has today's achievements, and it is inseparable from the concern of all walks of life. Nanjing University has always been paying close attention to the development of JRH since its opening in 2006. A decade later, NJU spent 2.6 million RMB on the overall promotion of its functions, including renovation of the house, design of the courtyard (including the building of air raid shelter), renewal of the exhibition boards, production of the embossment, addition of the multimedia player , the making of DVD on 10th anniversary of JRH, construction of the reading room and the virtual John Rabe Memorial Hall, etc.

15年来，南京大学拉贝与国际安全区纪念馆不仅参加了南京大屠杀死难者国家公祭日活动，而且还在馆内举办了周年纪念活动，包括举办拉贝诞辰130周年纪念、拉贝纪念馆十周年庆典等。社会各阶层、各单位更是在重大的时间节点，在拉贝纪念馆内外举行了多次公祭活动，弘扬了拉贝的人道主义精神，表达了人类大爱与和平的理念。让和平之鸽飞向远方，传递和平之声，凝聚和平力量。

In the past 15 years, John Rabe and International Safety Zone Memorial Hall and John Rabe International Research and Exchange Center for Peace and Reconciliation has not only participated in the National Memorial Day for Nanjing Massacre Victims activities, but also held anniversaries in JRMH, including the 130th anniversary of John Rabe’s birth and the 10th anniversary of John Rabe Memorial Hall Celebrations and so on. 2014年12月13日，习近平主席在南京大屠杀公祭仪式上讲话。

2009年4月14日下午，“拉贝日记重返南京／重返历史”媒体发布会在南京大学拉贝纪念馆召开。南京电视台著名节目主持人大刚主持了这次媒体发布会。《拉贝日记》电影主创王中磊、国内主要演员张静初(金女大学生扮演者)、李明(拉贝司机扮演者)，介绍了电影拍摄感想，国内外60多家媒体记者出席会议并分别采访了他们。会议还邀请拉贝纪念馆建设与管理资金捐资单位的代表及当年被拉贝保护过的幸存者代表出席了发布会。

2017 is year marks the 80th anniversary of the Nanjing massacre, the first show of the opera “The diaries of John Rabe”, guided by Publicity department of Jiangsu provincial party, will be released at Jiangsu Grand on December 13. 2018年12月2日，“第三届感恩·南京国际安全区”和平徒步活动在南京师范大学随园校区大草坪举行启动仪式。来自侵华日军南京大屠杀遇难同胞纪念馆 、南京市红十字会、新浪江苏、西门子公司、南京大学等21个企事业单位和高校的300位徒步者参加了此次活动，拉贝纪念馆亦是其中的一站。博西盖尔克先生、肖瑛女士、发展基金会张竹青老师、拉贝纪念馆杨善友老师、丁姗姗老师、Markus等受邀参加和平徒步活动。

On December 2, 2018,  “The Third Thanksgiving Nanjing International Security Zone” peaceful walking event was held on the lawn of Nanjing Normal University Suiyuan Campus. A total of 300 hikers from 21 enterprises and institutions including Memorial Hall for the Victims of the Nanjing Massacre by the Japanese Invaders, Nanjing Red Cross Society, Sina Jiangsu, Siemens and Nanjing University participated this activity, and John Rabe Memorial Hall was one of the venues as well. Mr. Geerke and Xiao Ying, both from BSH, Zhang Zhuqing from Development Foundation, Nanjing University, Yang Shanyou, Ding Shanshan and Markus from the Memorial Hall, etc. were all invited to participate in this big event.

On November 23, 2016, Nanjing University John Rabe and International Safety Zone Memorial Hall held a 10th anniversary celebration. 2016 marks the 134th birthday of John Rabe and the 20th anniversary of the diaries of John Rabe. People from Nanjing Municipal Government, Nanjing University, the German Consulate General in Shanghai, the donors of the John Rabe Development Fund, and the Memorial Hall of the Victims in Nanjing Massacre by Japanese Invaders attended the ceremony. 2021年11月23日上午，南京大学拉贝纪念馆成立15周年会议在拉贝纪念馆成功举办。为了会议的顺利举办，拉贝纪念馆做好了充分准备，特别制作了《2006-2021年南京大学拉贝纪念馆实录》画册。同时，在拉贝纪念馆院墙橱窗内展示15年来的重大成果。

On the morning of November 23,2021， the 15th anniversary meeting of  Nanjing University John Rabe Memorial Hall was successfully held in John Rabe Memorial Hall（JRMH）. 2006年拉贝纪念馆建成开馆，15年来拉贝馆在各损赠方的支持下，在南京大学各级领导和部门的重视下，取得了许多成绩和荣誉。2006年拉贝旧居被列为江苏省文物保护单位；2008年，被列为南京重要近现代建筑；2010年，入选国际和平博物馆；2013年，被列为第七批全国重点文物保护单位；2014年，入选第一批国家级抗战纪念遗址名录，2020年，入选“第四批中国20世纪建筑遗产名录”，2021年12月，拉贝纪念馆正式挂牌“世界文学之都地标网络”，成为南京首批入选的“文都地标”。

Under the support of donors of John Rabe Funds and the help from Nanjing University in the past ten years, Nanjing University John Rabe and International Safety Zone Memorial Hall has made a lot of achievements and honors since 2006. And John Rabe House was listed as Jiangsu provincial cultural relics protection unit in 2006, Nanjing modern historical Architecture in 2008. It was joined INMP in 2010 and selected as the Major Historical and Cultural Site Protected at the National Level in 2013. In 2014, John Rabe House was elected as the first batch of National Anti-Japanese Memorial Sites. In 2020, John Rabe Residence was included in “The Fourth Batch of Chinese 20th Century Architectural Heritage List”. In December 2021, John Rabe Memorial House was officially listed on the "The City of Literature In The World ", becoming the first batch of " City of Literature Landmark " selected in Nanjing.

John Rabe Memorial Hall is next to the exit of Zhujiang Road subway station on the Gulou campus of NJU. It exhibits some documents and daily necessities at that time.
